On Monday, the Chronicle of Higher Education published a report on one of the directors of our sister organization, the Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Fraternity. Please take a moment to read the article and the following statement from the Council’s Board of Governors:
Statement from the Board – July 25, 2018
The Delta Phi Epsilon Foreign Affairs Council is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting the practice and study of foreign affairs and international business by current and future generations of diplomats, officers, scholars, and professionals.
The Council is a 501(c)(3) organization that has no authority over the Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Fraternity Board of Governors or individual undergraduate chapters, but is here to build upon the foundation of alumni and current Chapter members vested in the values of the Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service community.
The Council’s core values of service, scholarship, and professionalism are rooted in diversity, respect, equality and selfless service. The Council is built upon the ideals of diversity, international exposure, and equality. The Council does not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or national origin. It is our position that all leadership and national representation should be balanced and fair, reflecting the demographics and global-minded values of our current students and alumni alike.
Council membership requirements are not influenced by gender, race or national origin. Council membership is open to the following:
Alumni of any Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Fraternity or Sorority chapter;
Honorary members of any DPE Fraternity or Sorority chapter; and
Current undergraduate or graduate students who have joined any DPE Professional Foreign Service Fraternity or Sorority chapter.
The Council was conceived in 2014, and founded in 2016, as a response to the lack of service, support and national programming from the DPE Professional Foreign Service Fraternity National Board of Governors. The Council does not report to, take directives from, nor consist of cross- or joint leadership with DPE Professional Foreign Service Fraternity National Board of Governors, which is comprised solely of alumni members of the Georgetown Chapter of DPE Professional Foreign Service Fraternity. The Council’s Leadership and Staff since its inception has been comprised of Fraternity and Sorority alumni of multiple Chapters, representing extensive diversity in gender and ethnicity.
