Registration for the Council’s Foreign Affairs Mentoring Program is open once again for students and alumni of Delta Phi Epsilon. Those interested should sign up before Friday, September 27.
The Foreign Affairs Mentoring Program is a joint project of the Council and the American Foreign Service Association, the professional association for the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, and other civilian foreign affairs agencies. The program pairs undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates from eight universities with members of the U.S. Foreign Service and Delta Phi Epsilon alumni from various backgrounds and industries.Go to Mentoring Page
Now in its second year, mentoring is one part of the Council and AFSA’s strategic partnership. The pilot program attracted twenty-one mentors and mentees from six different universities. Feedback from the pilot was overwhelmingly positive, with 87% of respondents saying they expected their mentoring relationships to last beyond the formal program and 94% of mentors indicating they would volunteer again.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to meet and support someone with fresh ideas and excitement about development work. It is a gift to pay it forward and help someone else.”
The 2019-2020 mentoring program will run from October 2019 to June 2020. The Council and AFSA are planning a closing reception to thank the mentors and mentees for their participation.
