Showcasing Ideas from New and Experienced Practitioners

Each year, the Society’s members gather for a two-day Delta Phi Epsilon Foreign Policy Symposium to network, discuss foreign policy topics, and present their work on emerging issues in international affairs. Symposium activities include:

  • Panel discussions and roundtables;
  • Research presentations;
  • Draft paper workshops;
  • Professional development events;
  • Networking opportunities; and
  • Awards presentations.

Details for the March 2018 Research Symposium in Washington, D.C. will be announced in Fall 2017.

Emerging Research Award

Each year, the Society awards merit scholarships through the Emerging Research Award program, a research paper competition for graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to scholarships, the two grand prize winners are invited to present their work at the Annual Symposium.

Society Annual Meeting

The annual business meeting for the Society’s membership is coupled with the Symposium. This meeting provides a forum for members to review the Society’s governance, vote on pending resolutions, and elect the board of directors and section and committee leadership.

Additional information about elections, including nominations and absentee voting for members unable to attend the meeting, is circulated to members two months before the symposium.

Symposium Proceedings

Papers presented at the Symposium are compiled for publication in a special edition of the Delta Phi Epsilon Journal of Foreign Affairs.
