Guiding Emerging Leaders

The Council and the American Foreign Service Association, the professional association for the U.S. diplomatic corps, jointly operate a mentoring program for students and young professionals pursuing careers in international relations and business. Our mentoring program gives Delta Phi Epsilon students and recent graduates a chance to build relationships and learn from members of the U.S. diplomatic corps and other professionals.

The inaugural mentoring program runs from September 2018 to June 2019. Mentors and Mentees will be paired based on common interests, backgrounds, and, where possible, common geography. We ask that all mentor-mentee pairs try to meet at least once a month, either in-person or by phone or video chat. Washington, DC mentor-mentee pairs are invited to a thank-you reception at the close of the program in June 2019.

Eligibility

Mentors:  Any member of the American Foreign Service Association and Supporting Members of the Foreign Affairs Council may volunteer as mentors.

Mentees: Any Student Member of the Foreign Affairs Council may register for the mentoring program. Both undergraduates and graduate students are welcome to take part. FAC members who have graduated from a degree-granting program within the last three years may also sign up for mentoring.
